The annual conference always provides timely and useful information on issues facing the forwarder and brokerage communities. This year was no exception. As expected, issues surrounding the multitude of tariff actions were discussed on stage and at virtually every table, bar, or corner where customs brokers gathered. The Association and their legal counsel did their best to bring clarity to the rules and processes, but for some issues, there is lingering uncertainty. Presentations developed for the conference covered the progress of programs being developed by partner government agencies and included representatives who offered insight into the direction of their departments. Exports are never left out, and panel discussions this year included coverage of the new reporting requirements for exports to or traveling through the EU, and export compliance, such as the troublesome anti-boycott rules. Lately, the FMC has been an integral part of the program as they work to regulate and improve the supply chain for American importers and exporters.
At CVI, we know that information and insight are key to making better decisions for the future, so we always send company representatives to this conference. The opportunity to hear from industry experts and regulatory officials is valued, as is the chance to spend time with our peers who face the same hurdles we do. The NCBFAA is a tremendous resource for the broker forwarder community, and we are proud to be members and participants in their events.
